Indigo Shibori on The Ansonborough Rooftop

$80.00

Wednesday, September 30, 2026

6:00-7:30

21 Hasell St., Charleston, SC 29401

Join Charleston fiber artist Kristy Bishop for an evening of indigo on the rooftop of The Ansonborough.

Discover the magic of indigo as you watch your fabric transform from bright green to its iconic blue in a matter of seconds as the dye oxidizes and “breathes” in the air. Kristy will introduce guests to shibori, traditional Japanese resist-dyeing techniques that use folding, clamping, and binding to create beautiful geometric patterns. Participants will experiment on sample cotton fabric before creating their own indigo-dyed cotton bandana. Guests are also welcome to bring personal cotton or natural-fiber items to dye and transform in the indigo vat.

This 90-minute hands-on workshop combines textile exploration, the magic of natural dyeing, and an unforgettable Charleston setting. As you work, take in the sunset from the rooftop of the historic The Ansonborough in downtown Charleston.
